New York Jets Must Pursue Peyton Manning |
When the Jets were a popular choice as a potential target for Peyton Manning at the beginning of the saga that has become the future of Manning in the NFL, I thought it was ridiculous.
They had Mark Sanchez quarter in which they agreed, why give him so little time?
But after a disappointing season, a season that portrayed the Jets locker room as dysfunctional and that they are financially stuck with discontent Santonio Holmes, Manning may be the only way the Jets can live up to one year, Rex Ryan, Super Bowl prediction.
There is a reason why the Jets as a possible destination for those who speculate on the future of Manning.
After all the drama in New York this year, Sanchez is going in this locker room and assert your leadership? Can he be a franchise quarterback in the first place? And maybe he and repair, which apparently became Holmes a troubled relationship?
Because here's the thing, no doubt Manning's leadership in the locker room while the NFL. If you have a complaint Holmes Manning, I'm sure he was told in no uncertain terms, that can be glued to complain and keep quiet and do their job.
And the Jets are the team Manning could bring to prominence. It would probably prefer an update or two in the skill positions the Jets, but Dustin Keller and Holmes union would have a good start. And he has a defense in place that was better than most of the Colts defense in recent years.
If there was an offseason where the Jets still could get the value of Sanchez in a trade, it could be. Sanchez is still young, and I think Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks have a great interest if Sanchez was placed on the trading block.
The Jets need to do due diligence in Manning. If they can make a healthy Manning to lead his team and find a trading partner willing to restore the value for Sanchez, they need to take your chances and move.
Because otherwise, you risk going into next season with equipment and clothing that is anything but stable.
