One Lovely Actress:Natasha Jane Richardson

Natasha Jane Richardson (11 May 1963 – 18 March 2009) was an English stage and screen actress.
The coffin - emblazoned with an Irish claddagh symbol, signifying love, friendship and loyalty - was driven yesterday to the New York country home in Millbrook where she married Liam Neeson in 1994.

It's believed Richardson will be buried there today.

The 45-year-old, who won a Tony award in 1998 for playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret, died on Wednesday at a New York hospital after a skiing accident on a novice slope on Mont Tremblant in Quebec.

Neeson received a stream of celebrity mourners on Friday at the American Irish Historical Society in Manhattan.

Neeson, who is Irish, appeared grateful for the outpouring of sympathy and was the last to leave the viewing.

The couple's sons - Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12 - as well as Richardson's mother, Vanessa Redgrave, and sister, Joely Richardson, also attended.

An array of famous mourners offered condolences in person.

Neeson hugged, among others, Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke and Sarah Jessica Parker, during the six-hour viewing.

Other visitors included Kenneth Cole, Laura Linney, Fisher Stevens, Stanley Tucci, Julianna Margulies and Mathilde Krim of the American Foundation of AIDS Research.

Richardson had served on the charity's board of trustees since 2006.

"She looked incredibly beautiful," Ms Krim said, adding that everyone appeared in a state of shock and Neeson appeared distraught as he received everybody.

Friends expressed their shock and grief.

"Natasha was a very close friend of our family, so it's been a very, very sad few days and I think it will stay that way for a good while," Matthew Broderick said.

Actor Jonathan Cake said: "I had dinner with her on the Saturday night. Just the two of us. She left to go skiing the next day."

Doctors have said Richardson might have survived the head injury had she received immediate treatment after the skiing accident.

But nearly four hours elapsed between her fall and admission to hospital.
